Artist Marike made this painting with pigment from plants grown in her own dye garden. See how it’s done in this clip from the Dutch TV show BinnensteBuiten, aired 18 September 2024.
Atelier De Heerlijkheid is housed in a listed farmhouse in Bokhoven, right next to the 14th-century village church. The building was constructed on the remains of an earlier farm, traces of which are still visible both inside and out. It served as a working farm until the 1990s.
Marike graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts Education in Tilburg and spent many years teaching art in secondary education. She also taught for over ten years at amateur art association Het Bossche Palet and has been involved in various art education projects for primary and secondary schools.
