Painting and drawing courses at Atelier De Heerlijkheid
At Atelier De Heerlijkheid, you have the opportunity to take part in portrait and life drawing, as well as open painting and drawing courses. In our open painting and drawing courses, you work on your own subjects at your own pace. You choose what you want to explore, while Marike provides guidance where needed and responds to your specific questions. We start from your own inspiration: from observation, memory, and imagination. Inspiration is always there; Marike helps you recognize it. There is a strong focus on materials. We primarily work with watercolor, oil paint, ink, charcoal, chalk, and pencil—materials that allow you to slow down, build up layers, and truly observe. This helps you work more consciously. Those accustomed to painting with acrylics can still do so by arrangement, but the instruction focuses primarily on these other painting techniques. This creates space to work freely while gradually moving toward honest, thoughtful material choices. There is a world of color and inspiration to discover.

Children's Art StudioOn Friday afternoons, we host the Children's Art Studio: a free, welcoming space where children aged 6–12 can draw, paint, and work with techniques including printmaking, wood, stone, and clay, while qualified teacher Marike stimulates their imagination in a relaxed way. It is possible to take three trial lessons and then join for the entire season.
